How we look after
your stories

Where we store your stories, who can see them, and what happens if you cancel your subscription.

UK-hosted & encryptedGDPR compliant by designStories kept for 25+ yearsNo ads. No data sold. Ever.

Every parent paying £75 a year to capture their child's story wants the same thing answered honestly: will this still be here when my child is old enough to want it?

Our answer is yes, and the rest of this page is the detail behind that answer

Where do my stories go?

Your stories are stored securely in the UK. We use encryption to protect them while they are sent to us and while they are stored. This scrambles the information to help prevent anyone without permission from reading it. We're GDPR compliant by design, not by retrofit.
Your stories are private. You choose who you share them with.

What happens if I cancel?

We keep your stories safe for 2 years after your subscription ends.

For the first 6 months, you can still watch your stories, but you cannot add to or edit them. For the next 18 months, we keep them in an archive. You will need to restart your subscription to restore them and watch them again.

We'll let you know before your access changes or your stories are due to be deleted. If you restart your subscription during those 2 years, your stories can be restored exactly as they were.

If you want to keep your stories without a long-term subscription, you have two options:

Buy our Keepsake product Keep the stories you've already recorded safe and available to watch for 25 years, with no ongoing subscription. You will need an active subscription to record new stories.
At the end of the 25 years, you or a family member you've chosen can extend the storage period.

Download your stories Keep your own copies of every story, video, photo and written version of your recordings. You can save them on your computer or another storage device.

Can I download my stories?

Yes. Contact us and we'll arrange a copy of your videos, photos and the written versions of your recordings.

You can keep these on your own computer or storage device. This is a right under GDPR, but we'd offer it anyway. Your stories belong to you.

Will you still be here in 25 years?

We're building BabyMoments for the long term. Customer payments help cover the cost of running the app and storing your stories.

We're a small, self-funded UK company, and we plan carefully so we can keep running for years to come. We cannot promise what the future will bring, but looking after your stories is central to how we run the business.

You can also request copies of your stories to keep yourself. The deeper details are in our terms, but the principle is that paid lifetime safekeeping should continue even if the company doesn't.

What if I can no longer manage my stories?

You can choose up to three people you trust, such as a partner, grandparent or close friend, to help make sure your stories reach the right people if you can no longer manage them yourself.

Your chosen people can check and update your children's contact details so the QR codes needed to access their stories reach them. Your sharing settings determine when stories become available, including what happens if you do not respond to an early access request. Being a trusted person does not give them access to watch your stories.
If your family is going through a difficult time and you need help with your stories, please get in touch. Someone from our small support team will reply and help where they can.

Read more about how sharing works on the BabyMoments page.

Who can see my stories?

Only you, and the people you specifically choose to share them with. Sharing is opt-in, never opt-out. We never sell your data and we don't run ads. We're funded by what you pay us, and that's the entire arrangement.

What happens to the books?

Printed books will be available to buy separately when they launch. Once you have your book, you can read it whenever you like without an account or subscription.

The QR codes inside will let you watch the videos linked to your stories. When you order a book, we'll save separate copies of those videos so you can still watch them if you cancel your subscription.

What if I just want to read the policies?

You can read our Privacy Policy, Terms, and Cookie Policy for more detail
If anything is unclear, email us at contact@babymoments.app. We'll explain it and review any wording that needs to be clearer.

If something here doesn't answer the question you actually have, write to us at contact@babymoments.app. The team's small, the responses come from real humans, and we'd rather answer one specific question well than write a thousand-word policy that addresses everything and nothing.
